Vapour Quality 8.0/10

True convection. Hot air pulled through herb by your draw. No contact heating. No hot walls. Just thermal airflow stripping cannabinoids and terpenes as it passes through the flower.

The quartz chamber is where the magic lives. At 180-195°C, the flavour clarity is exceptional for a device at this price. Terpenes arrive individually — you taste limonene, then myrcene, then caryophyllene, each distinguishable in a way that conduction devices blur together. The quartz adds zero flavour of its own. The zirconia mouthpiece and cooling spiral keep things smooth. First draw to fifth draw, the flavour stays remarkably consistent — convection's signature advantage.

The stainless steel chamber prioritises density over purity. Thicker clouds, more visible vapour, slightly less terp definition. At 200°C+, the stainless steel is the session chamber — fill it, rip it, extract everything. The quartz is the tasting chamber.

The zirconia cooling spiral does genuine work. Even at 210°C, the vapour arrives at your lips smoothly — noticeably cooler than the Mighty+'s cooling unit at equivalent temps, which is a genuine compliment.

The limitation: Convection demands technique. Pack too tight and airflow restricts. Pack too loose and heat passes through without extracting. The grind needs to be medium — not fine (clogs), not coarse (under-extracts). Once you dial in the right pack, the Roffu rewards you. Until then, expect inconsistency.

The Strain Test

Two strains. Two chambers. Two very different tests of what a Kärcher can do to flower.

Jealousy — Hybrid (Street)

The Flower: Sherbert Bx1 × Gelato 41. 50/50 hybrid. 25-30% THC. Caryophyllene, limonene, linalool, myrcene. Creamy, gassy, with a funky earthy sweetness. One of the most complex modern hybrid profiles — the kind of strain that was engineered to test flavour extraction. Dense, frosty nugs that produce thick, terp-rich vapour through convection. If the Roffu can't make Jealousy taste good, nothing under £200 can.

The Pack: 0.25g medium grind, quartz chamber first.

175°C — Quartz Chamber: Cream. Immediate, unmistakable cream. The linalool-limonene combination through quartz is extraordinary at this temperature — sweet, floral, gassy, without a trace of harshness. Four draws of genuine artisan-quality flavour. The quartz adds nothing and takes nothing away. This is the Roffu's best-case scenario, and it delivers.

190°C — Quartz Chamber (same bowl): The gas arrives. Caryophyllene-driven spiciness underneath the cream. The Gelato 41 genetics asserting themselves. Three draws with increasing complexity. Flavour still holding strong — draw five and six of a convection session still delivering terps. Conduction devices would have faded by draw three.

210°C — Stainless Steel Chamber (fresh bowl): Full extraction mode. Thick vapour, visible clouds, the stainless steel maximising density. The cream is gone — earthy, gassy, heavy. Four draws to full extraction. ABV evenly light brown. This is the driveway.

The Verdict: Jealousy through the quartz chamber at 175-190°C is the best flavour experience I've had from a device under £150. Full stop. The terp separation, the cream, the gas — the Roffu makes Jealousy taste like Jealousy, not like "vaguely nice weed." The dual-chamber system isn't a gimmick. It's two meaningfully different devices in one housing.

Noidecs T20:C4 Delahaze — Sativa (Medical)

The Flower: Delahaze cultivar. Sativa-dominant. 20% THC, 4% CBD. Terpinolene, myrcene, limonene, pinene. Hazy, citrus, herbal, slightly sweet. The CBD content (4%) adds smoothness — less throat hit than pure THC strains. One of the few UK medical strains with meaningful CBD alongside decent THC. Budget-friendly at ~£6-7/g.

The Pack: 0.2g medium grind, quartz chamber. Testing on-demand mode.

165°C — On-Demand (button-held): Terpinolene magic. That rare, incense-like, piney-citrus top note that makes haze strains distinctive. Two button-held draws. The on-demand mode delivers concentrated hits — quick, flavourful, controlled. For medical micro-dosing, this precision matters. Effects are clean, focused, alert. The CBD smooths any edge.

180°C — On-Demand (same bowl): Full haze character. Myrcene fills out the base. Citrus deepens. Two draws. The on-demand mode means the bowl is barely touched between hits — no residual cooking, no wasted terps. The Delahaze is extracting efficiently in short bursts.

195°C — Session Mode (remaining flower): Switched to session for full extraction. Three draws to finish. Herbal, earthy, fully extracted. CBD effects noticeable — the anti-inflammatory warmth that THC-only strains don't provide.

The Verdict: On-demand mode with Delahaze is the Roffu's medical case study. Quick button-held hits of a balanced-ratio strain, controlling exactly how much you extract per draw. The Roffu as a precision medical tool is more compelling than the Roffu as a session vape. For patients who need specific dosing, the on-demand mode offers control that session-only devices can't match.

Design & Build (The 'Two Cups' Story) 7.5/10

Anodised aluminium body. Feels premium in the hand. The OLED colour display is bright, intuitive, and adds a touch of sophistication that budget devices typically lack. Haptic feedback for readiness and session end. The overall industrial design is clean.

But quality control is the concern. Jake borrowed the Roffu for a weekend. Dropped the quartz chamber on the kitchen floor. It survived — surprisingly. Then the screen fell out of the stainless steel chamber on its own.

Button registration is inconsistent on some units — some presses don't register, requiring multiple clicks. The mouthpiece zirconia components can separate with repeated disassembly for cleaning. These are the rough edges of a device that's impressive in concept and inconsistent in execution.

The dual-chamber system is the headline. Twist, pull, swap. The quartz slides in with a satisfying click. The stainless steel locks with the same action. Switching chambers mid-session takes five seconds. It's clever engineering that works reliably even when other components don't.

Battery & Charging (The IT Guy Check) 8.5/10

This is the Roffu's quiet strength.

Removable 18650. 3200mAh. 10-12 sessions per charge. 90-minute USB-C charge time. Swap a spare battery and you've doubled your day.

These are excellent numbers for a mid-range device. The Auxo Calent has 2900mAh sealed — comparable capacity but no swapping. The Mighty+ has more total capacity but it's sealed. The V3 Pro has a removable 18650 but only 2600mAh (fewer sessions).

Ease of Use 7.5/10

The OLED display is intuitive. Temperature adjustment is precise (1°C increments). Haptic feedback tells you when it's ready. Session mode runs 3-6 minutes. On-demand mode gives you control. The interface is well-designed.

But convection isn't simple. This isn't a load-and-go device. The grind matters. The pack density matters. The draw speed matters. Too fast and you cool the heater. Too slow and you're not pulling enough air through. Once you learn the technique (3-5 sessions), it becomes natural. Until then, expect inconsistency.

The dual-chamber system adds a decision: quartz or steel? Flavour or clouds? For an experienced user, this is flexibility. For a first-timer, it's one more thing to think about.

Mum test: FAIL. Convection technique, dual chambers, on-demand vs session mode switching, OLED menu navigation. She'd get as far as "which cup do I put in?" and hand it back. The OLED screen is nice. She wouldn't read it.

Cleaning & Maintenance 7.0/10

Many small parts. Chambers, screens, mouthpiece components, zirconia cooling spiral. Each needs regular attention. The exposed chamber design makes access easy, but the number of components increases the total cleaning time.

Cleaning timeline:

• After every 2-3 sessions: brush the chamber, check screens
• Every 5-7 sessions: ISO soak screens and mouthpiece components
• Weekly: full disassemble, ISO soak all parts, check screen seating
• Monthly: deep clean zirconia cooling spiral

Portability 8.0/10

166g. Compact aluminium body. Removable battery adds no bulk. The Roffu fits in jacket pockets comfortably and jeans pockets at a push.

The heat issue limits immediate portability. Both chambers get extremely hot after use. You're waiting 10+ minutes before the device is pocket-safe after a high-temp session. The aluminium body dissipates heat eventually, but not quickly.

Stealth is moderate. The OLED display and industrial design suggest "electronic gadget" rather than "vaporiser" to the uninitiated. Not as sleek as the Calent, but more discreet than the Mighty+.

How I Actually Use This

My Default Setup:

• Chamber: Quartz for first bowl (flavour), stainless steel for evening session (extraction)
• Temperature: 185°C for quartz, 200°C for stainless steel
• Pack: 0.25g medium grind, loose but not airy
• Session: 4-5 minutes in session mode

When I Reach For It: When flavour matters. The Roffu at 185°C through the quartz chamber is the best flavour experience under £150. On Friday evenings when I've got good flower and want to actually taste it, the Roffu earns its place. The on-demand mode also shines for quick pain management hits — precise, controlled, efficient.

When I Don't: Weekday evenings when I'm tired and want simplicity. Convection requires attention. The Mighty+ requires none. On low-energy days, I reach for something that doesn't ask me to think about grind consistency and pack density.

The Bore Factor: Dave ordered one. I've recommended it to three people since. I'm becoming the Kärcher bore — the person at the barbecue who corners you by the grill and says "have you tried convection? Let me tell you about quartz chambers." I'm aware this is happening. I haven't stopped.

Value for Money 8.5/10

Under £110 for true convection. Dual interchangeable chambers. Removable 18650 with 3200mAh. OLED display. Haptic feedback. Session + on-demand modes. 1-degree temperature control. Zirconia cooling spiral.

Read that spec list and tell me what price you'd guess. £150? £180? The Roffu delivers features and performance that compete with devices in the £150-200 bracket at a £109 price point. The value-per-pound is exceptional.

The V3 Pro at £79.99 is cheaper but doesn't have true convection, dual chambers, or an OLED display. The Boundless CFX at £119 has a bigger bowl and simpler operation but no on-demand mode and no chamber flexibility. The Mighty+ at £255.99 is vastly more reliable but costs 2.3x as much.

The QC risk is the asterisk. A perfectly assembled Roffu at £109 is one of the best values in portable vaping. A Roffu with a loose screen and button registration issues is a £109 frustration. You're gambling on production batch quality. The 12-month warranty provides a safety net, but it's a shorter net than I'd like.

Thirty quid less for hybrid heating, removable 18650, and massive community support. The V3 Pro is simpler and more reliable. If you can't, the Roffu is a legitimate flavour alternative.

Vs Auxo Celsius (£98.00)

Eleven quid less for triple heating, 10-year warranty, and 6-second heat-up. But 27 minutes of battery versus the Roffu's 90+ minutes. The Celsius is a tech demo. The Roffu is a daily driver.

The Verdict (The Bookend)

The XLUX Roffu shouldn't be this good. True convection at this price shouldn't deliver quartz-chamber flavour that makes a man who's spent £800 on vaporisers say "I've been using the wrong chamber." Dual interchangeable chambers, removable 18650, session + on-demand modes, OLED display — all for £109. The spec sheet doesn't make sense. The performance shouldn't be possible. And yet.

The QC lets it down. Loose screens, separating mouthpieces, button inconsistency. Not every unit — but enough units to mention. Enough to dock points. Enough to add "if you get a good one" to every recommendation. The Roffu is brilliant when it's assembled properly and frustrating when it's not.

But when it works — when you've dialled in the grind, packed the quartz chamber, set it to 185°C, and taken that first draw of something properly terpy — you understand why Dave ordered one. You understand why people who've tried true convection never stop talking about it.

I went in for milk. I came out with a Kärcher. Now I'm that person at the barbecue. Just one more bowl.
