Dry Herb Vaporizers
A dry herb vaporizer heats ground herb to a temperature you choose, hot enough to release its flavour and aroma as vapour but well below the point where it would burn. Nothing is set alight, so nothing is lost to the flame. This collection covers every type we stock: pocket portables, plug-in desktops and battery-free manual vapes.
If you are new to the category, start with what a dry herb vaporizer actually is and our decision guide. Every device here is tested on the same two-strain bench, so a score on one review means the same thing as a score on another. Dry herb vaporizer questions
What is the difference between a dry herb vaporizer and a vape pen?
A dry herb vaporizer heats solid plant material. Most vape pens heat a liquid or oil cartridge instead, which is a different product altogether. Our explainer on dry herb vs extracts vs e-liquid sets out the differences.
Should I buy a portable or a desktop vaporizer?
Portables run on batteries and go where you go. Desktops plug into the mains, stay at home and are built for longer, shared sessions. If you only want one device, a good portable covers most people; see portable vaporizers and desktop vaporizers.
What is the difference between conduction and convection?
Conduction heats the herb through contact with a hot chamber wall; convection passes hot air through it. Convection tends to give more even extraction, while conduction is simpler and more forgiving. Conduction vs convection goes into detail.
What temperature should I use?
Most people start around 180 °C and move up in small steps. Lower settings favour flavour, higher settings give denser vapour. Our temperature guide explains what changes between 175 °C and 210 °C.
Do dry herb vaporizers smell?
Far less than burning, and the smell fades quickly, but they are not odour-free. Do dry herb vaporizers smell? covers what to expect and how to keep it down.
